The Weather Man was actually right this time

A couple times this year they have forcasted snow and the city freaks, school is canceled, and then....Nothing. It will turn out to be a beautiful 60 degrees. If you predict something enough though, its bound to happen eventually. What a beautiful thing to wake up to though.

First thing this morning Jamis stared out the window with the most amazed eyes I've ever seen. I was SO excited to take him out to play and so was he, until we actually got outside that is.
Despite the snow melting temps, he was frozen solid. He didn't know what to think of all that white stuff. Now he saw snow when we were in Utah, but this time it was in his yard and he didn't care for it. When I finally convinced him to leave the doorway, Max was so excited he knocked him over and that was it...game over. Hopefully later today we'll have a little more fun in our winter wonderland.

Do you think my palm tree is going to make it???

Max loved playing in the snow.

Bamboo trees were not meant for this kind of weather.
What a perfect way to begin the Winter Olympics

Boy Instincts

Wednesday night I had to go to Ward Council, so Devan and Jamis had a little father/son boys night. The next morning little man had a new trick.

Natural boy instinct or copy cat instinct??? You decide.

Jamis is in full on discovery mode. This week it was the wonders of wearing a "cape"

And learning where mom keeps all the treats
This area gets "rearranged" multiple time a day. Definitely need a new system to my non pantry bearing house.

Happy Brithday DEVAN!!!!

Every year Devan pretends he doesn't have a birthday. He doesn't want to do anything big or really anything at all. Well I don't like this and since his birthday is obviously about what I want, every year I do something, and every year I get all sorts of fun looks and sighs from our birthday boy. Well this year was no different, though I did have a little compassion and scaled things down a bit.

Since our life is Hospital #1, Life #2, we celebrated Devan's birthday the day before and the day after (you have to love being on call). So on the 1st we had a family party complete with a candle lit enchiladas, sparkling cider, and cheese cake dinner. With Jamis mesmerized with the firelight and Devan amazed at my cooking, it was a fun night.

On the 3rd we went out to Dev's fav restaurant, TGIFridays, with the Arne's. Beckie surprised him with a scandalise bikini cake and I was successful in my promise NOT to tell our waiter it was his birthday.

Devan's first solo reduction.

Though he was reluctant about even admitting it was his birthday, Devan actually admitted to having a good time. I hated to break it to him but once again, I was right!!!

January--the month that lasted 2 minutes

I know time is supposed to go by faster the older you get, but seriously this is ridiculous, I'm really not that old. January is already gone and I didn't even realize it started. So here's a quick recap of what I'm told happened in January.

For those of you who didn't know January has officially been changed to MANuary. All the residents celebrated the beginning of the new year by showing off how manly they can be, with a variety of stashes. This is the look Devan was most fond of.

Jamis and his love of boxes continued

Jamis is also learning that he is Independent and can do things all by himself. The other morning I got him out of bed and then went back into my bedroom to freshen up. In the two minutes I was out of sight he fixed himself some breakfast. Nothing says nutritious like waking up to Gingersnaps. Since he was trying so hard to be grown up, how could I not let him finish them.
Why take one, when you can stuff three in your mouth at the same time?
"I think I should fix breakfast more often!"
Later on that day I was doing our regular clean up routine, when I turned around and couldn't find him. Right when the freak out was setting in, I here him talking and what do you know, he was IN the dryer. He saw Buddy in there and decided to go on a rescue mission. I tell ya, this kid has to stop learning new tricks.
This month also started the Plastic Surgery Interview season. So far Devan has 13 interviews from Maryland, to Texas, to Utah, Florida, and everywhere in between. Interviews go until April and then we find out our destiny in May. Until then I'll be working as a travel agent and Devan will be looking sharp, jet setting around the country.

Bubble Bath

Lately Jamis has grown quite fond of bath time. So being the good mom that I am, I decided to let him have a little fun and take a bubble bath. Man, you would've thought I put him in a bath full of scary monsters. I practically had to get in with him to show him he wasn't going to get swallowed up by the big bad bubbles. It cracks me up how he has no fear when it comes to huge dogs, running off by himself, jumping off high objects, or loud noises, but you put a few bubbles in the picture and watch out. After a lot of convincing he finally realized that this was a not a punishment and he actually had a lot of fun. As for me though, maybe I'm not as nice as a mom as I think I am, but I definitely think I'll wait a little bit longer before I try the bubble bath again.

Christmas 2009

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. We started a new tradition for our family, one that Devan grew up with, 12 Days of Christmas- Secret Santa style. It was a BLAST. All 12 nights we would ding dong ditch some presents on our secret families door step and run. I cannot believe I've never done this before. It is awesome. We had a few close calls and one twisted ankle, but they never found out it was us. Our secret family next year better watch out because I'm already making plans.
Unfortunately Devan had to work on Christmas Day so we celebrated on the 24th. All month Jamis was fascinated with the lights, tree, ornaments, paper, pictures, and nativities. He didn't quite know what to think of opening presents though. Who cared what was in the box, he just wanted the box. Future younger siblings can thank Jamis when all they get for their first few Christmas's is empty boxes!

Christmas Eve we also had a few friends over for our traditional Ham Feast. Yummy dinner, good friends, and Peanut Butter Pie, what more could you ask for.
Christmas Day Jamis and I visited Daddy at work and then joined our second family, the Arne's, for Christmas Dinner and fun. I am so thankful this Christmas Season for Family, Friends, and most of all for my Savior.
