March Happenings

Having two kids is still throwing me for a loop, so once again my journal of our family life has taken a backseat. So hear is the whirlwind look at our March.

Jaxon is growing like a weed. At his 2 month check up he weighed in at 14 lbs 9 oz and was 22 ins long. In his defence he was really 2 1/2 months old (11 weeks), but still in one month he gained over 4.5 lbs (he was 10lbs at his 6 weeks check up). Momma definitely makes some good milk.

His little personality is coming out more and more now. He is loves to smile and talk to anyone who will listen. He is a very strong boy, holding his head up well and loves to play with his hands. Just can't get enough of him.

Love that smile Still not a huge fan of baths, but semi enjoys them if Jamis is in with him.

First time sitting in the "Big Boy" Chair. It seems like only yesterday I put Jamis in here for the first time.

Jamis is loving being the "good big boy" of the house and often corrects you on that fact (he is NOT a "silly goose" or a "big helper" but a "good boy"). This kid cracks me up. He is slowly adjusting to brotherhood. He consistently has one day were he is the sweetest kid alive, followed by a day of a not so good two year old. He is always sweet to Jaxon though and has to know where he is at all times and never lets him go a minute without his binky.

Jamis's new love is basketball. He is especially fond of the new hoop his daddy got him. Throwing rocks, trains, and cars still top the list. He has also become very particular about everything in his life. Nothing can be different. Mom has to sit a certain way and only in a few spots. The curtains have to be just so. He has to pick out his own clothes. He really is realizing his control or lack thereof on the world. Our move in two months is going to be interesting.

He also has a new fear of bugs. Oh, my. Going outside has been quite traumatizing lately (though oddly that's all he wants to do). He can't see a fruit fly go by or an ant crawl across without a complete breakdown. Now living in the southern part of the country has not been kind to this fear. I'm just waiting til the spiders come out this summer to see the fireworks start.

Even the goodness of ice cream couldn't overcome the coma the stroller produces.

I left Jamis in the back yard for a minute and when I came back this is what I found. He had found part of Devan's bike trainer in the garage and decided to get some exercise.

So everyday Jamis likes to collect rocks in his trunk and ride down to the ditch by our house. The ditch slopes down from the street and Devan and I have been just waiting for the moment when he would get too close and end up in the water with his rocks. I felt like such a horrible mother sitting on the side of the road laughing and taking pictures when it actually happened. He doesn't get too close anymore though.

Proudly showing off his much loved basketball hoop while perfecting his "cheese" smile. We had several rainy days this month so we started exploring new games. Jamis quickly took to Twister and all its fun body positions.

Awe. My two wonderful boys!

Thanks Aunt Darcie for sending us such cute matching hats.

Daddy naps are the best
Jamis is a little too loving sometimes.

Jamis came down with the stomach flu and the only thing I could get him to "eat" was suckers. Looks like he's enjoying it huh.
1st Pro pic as brothers.

Boy Trip 2011

After much persuasion Devan finally took the opportunity for a week male bonding get-a-way. He spent several days in Salt Lake skiing with my dad, brother, Greg Nicholson, and Ben Schmitt. Untouchted knee deep powder for days. Can't get any better than that.

Devan, Dad, and Jake

To thaw out he ended his trip in southern Utah with a little Zions.

Breath taking Angels Landing views

One day he'll be able to take a normal picture.

Even though Downi isn't a dude, she was able to come along.
